Raphael Varane: Erling Haaland Must Be Stopped
Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has said they must cut the connection between Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland in the upcoming Manchester derby final.
Ahead of the FA Cup final on Saturday, Manchester United face the danger of facing Erling Haaland, who has been unstoppable this season after winning the golden boot. In the earlier meeting between the two sides at the Etihad, Haaland scored twice in the 6-3 win.
Speaking ahead of the game, Raphael Varane insisted they needed to be strong.
“That kind of pass is complicated to defend, so we try to cut that connection. We try to stop them earlier and not at the end because sometimes it’s too late.”.
“We know we have to be strong. That was part of the plan in the 2-1 win for United because they have a lot of connections, can change systems, and have a different approach to games. It’s one of the things we have to work on.”He said.
The FA Cup final will be played on Saturday in the Manchester derby as United search for their second trophy this season while City continue to chase the treble.
