Brentford Striker Ivan Toney Banned From Football

Brentford striker Ivan Toney has been banned from all football activities for eight months for breaching FA betting rules.

 

 

He will miss the final two Premier League games this season, against Manchester City on the final day of the season and at Tottenham on Saturday. This season, Toney has scored a remarkable 21 goals in 35 games for Brentford in west London.

 

 

The FA released a statement confirming the news: “Ivan Toney has been suspended from all football and football-related activity with immediate effect for eight months, which runs up to and including January 16, 2024, fined £50,000, and warned as to his future conduct for breaches of The FA’s betting rules.” Read the statement.

 

 

Through his Twitter page, Ivan Toney released a statement saying he was disappointed by the ruling. “Today I received notification of my eight-month ban from football following a hearing before an FA Regulation Commission that took place yesterday,” he stated. “I am naturally disappointed that I will not be able to play for the next eight months,” he tweeted.
