Mother Arrested, Son Wanted For Brother’s Murder

Police in Rubanda District are holding in custody a 40-year-old mother in connection to her son’s murder.
The deceased was identified as 20-year-old Kamugisha Brian who died after he was allegedly hit on the forehead with a hoe by his elder brother Nahurira Richard.
It is said that the mother of the two boys, Kyarimpa Gloria, a resident of Central Division, Kabale Municipality, invited them both for a family meeting when the incident occurred. The brothers reportedly got into an argument over the family land.
According to the police statement, Kamugisha had leased out the family land going against his brother who wanted to cultivate it. Their mother offered to pay back the money that had been given to Kamugisha for the lease so as to give the land to Nahuria to farm.
The family members moved to the said land and during the quarrel, the suspect picked up a hoe and hit his brother on the head in front of the family members. Kamugisha was pronounced dead on the spot.
The police were tipped off by one of the relatives who were present at the scene. They visited the scene and took the body of the deceased to a mortuary at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital.
The case was recorded as murder under file number CRB 173/2023 as the police continued the search for Nahurira.
