Arsenal Title Hopes Ends After Brighton Humiliation
Arsenal suffered a shock 3-0 defeat to Brighton at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening in the Premier League.
The Gunners had no chance of dropping points, so they can continue chasing for the title. Brighton were coming back from a shock loss to Everton. Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka both had good chances for Arsenal in the first half after they suffered a blow when Gabriel Martinelli was forced off with an injury. It was still goalless at the break.
Everything fell apart for Arsenal in the second half when Julio Enciso opened the scoring in the 51st minute. Deniz Undav then capitalized on Trossard’s mistake as he doubled the visitors lead. Pervis Estupinan then scored the third goal in stoppage time to finish off a beautiful night for the visitors and heartbreak for the Arsenal side.
Speaking after the game, Mikel Arteta felt sorry for the fans. “It’s a really different feeling to the feeling that we all had last Sunday against Newcastle, when we felt proud and we felt that we really did what we needed to win in certain moments. Today is completely the opposite. We have to apologize to our people, especially for the second half.” He said.
The loss for Arsenal means that Manchester City can win the Premier League if they win their next game against a struggling Chelsea side during the weekend.
