Woman To Pay Husband Money Before Divorce

Woman has been ordered by Sharia Court in Kaduna- Nigeria to return the dowry paid by her husband in her process of filing divorce.
Fatima Muhammad had filed for divorce in Sharia to be separated from husband claiming she ain’t feeling to be obedient and interested in the marriage.
“I am tired of the union and I cannot be an obedient wife to him; I prayed court to grant me custody of our three-year-old daughter,” News Agency of Nigeria quoted Fatima as she told the court.
However, the judge magistrate handling the case on Thursday 11th ruled in favour of the defendant by ordering Fatima to pay N 80,000 equivalent to Ksh 24,000 to the man for mental damage and raising an unworthy option that lowers the reputation of the husband.
Since Fatima was a mother of a one, she wanted the court to let her go with the daughter but the court magistrate told her it’s another case and she should file it.
The defendant’s lawyer, L. R. Ibrahim further told the court that the mother of one is loved by her husband and that the husband ain’t ready for the divorce.
According to Nigeria’s media outlets, Pulse, the defendant urged the court to let the two solve the matter outside the court for it was a family issue.
