Passenger Collapses, Dies In A Bus
Panic gripped passengers travelling by bus from Kigali to Kampala, Uganda after a female traveller was pronounced dead on board.
This happened on the Trinity Express Bus, registration number RAD 639G which was on the Kabale-Mbarara road.
The journey was cut short after one of the passengers alerted the bus conductor about the sudden death of a yet to be identified female passenger.
The bus driver in panic drove to Mbarara Police station where the incident was reported. Upon parking the bus, a group of detectives retrieved the body and opened investigations into the mysterious death.
It was later known that the deceased was suffering from liver complications and was on her way to Mulago Referral Hospital for treatment in company of her relative when she died.
The body of the deceased was taken to Mbarara Regional Hospital for postmortem before being handed over to the relatives. The rest of the passengers were left stranded at the police station as they were asked to make a statement.
“We have not checked the body whether it has injuries or not, but first park and go to the police and make a statement,” an officer revealed.
The Rwizi region police spokesperson, Kasasira Samson revealed that he was waiting for the postmortem report to determine the cause of death.
