Gor Mahia Coach: AFC Leopards Are Dangerous Rivals

Ahead of the upcoming Mashemeji Derby during the weekend, Gor Mahia head coach Jonathan McKinstry insisted that the AFC Leopards will be a tough duel.

Gor Mahia holds a 2-point lead over the second-placed Tusker in the title race, and a win against their arch rivals would put them ahead and give them the advantage.

The AFC Leopards are in ninth place with just 42 points from 29 games played, and they have not beaten Gor Mahia in the last five meetings.

Speaking before the game, Jonathan said,

“AFC are placed lower than us on the table, and most likely they will finish around there, maybe fifth or sixth when the season ends. So for them, they are not fighting for the league title, and they will have nothing to lose.

“They will throw everything at us, and that makes them a dangerous rival because for them, this is a free hit.” He said.

The game will be played in Moi International Sports Center Kasarani, where tickets will go for Shs 500 for VIPs while regular tickets will cost 200 bob. AFC Leopards were relieved earlier in the week after their fans were allowed back in the stadiums.
