Bungoma Police are hunting for New Life Church And Prayer clergy who has gone into hideout for failing to comply to Bungoma Police Commander’s summon call.

 

On Wednesday 10th, police commander Francis Kooli sent a summoning information to the New Life Church preacher based in Sikata to appear before him on Thursday 11th but failed to reappear.

 

The church which Sikata neighbours allege it’s some months old, is linked to Mavueni renowned televangelist Pastor Ezekiel Odero and alleged to have merely 10 faithfuls.

We have called him but he says he is not around. If he does not show up we will be forced to use other means to get him,” Mr Kooli told the media.

 

New Life Church Prayer which the Bungoma clergy believed to be in hideout, is a Western branch of main church based in Mavueni, Kilifi County linked to the Shakahola massacre of over 110 people.

 

However, as the government digdeep down to regulate rising and existing churches in Kenya, Mr Kooli has advised netizens to avoid lending and selling land to emerging churches that are not licensed in Kenya.

Further, after Yesu wa Tongaren real name Eliud Wekesa appearing before Mr Kooli on Wednesday for religious interrogations over his New Jerusalem church teachings; Mr Wekesa has on Thursday been detained by Bungoma Police as probing takes route in investigating into his church doctrines and teachings.

 

Mr Wekesa had been alleged to have stopped children from going to school and members not to seek medication when unwell.

 

However, when appearing before the police commander; Yesu disclosed that he preaches the true gospel and children and people ministering in his church go to school and seek medication attention in hospital.

On Thursday, when interrogated about the certification of his church New Jerusalem, Yesu disclosed that the registration process is still undergoing and information is in the hands of Bungoma North’s church licensing office.

 

Mr Wekesa will spend more days in police custody as police investigate more into his teachings and church doctrines.
