Home » Religious Leader Punches Colleague To Death Over 50,000 Debt

An Imam and teacher at Ibunmasood Nursery and Primary Islamic school in Bunamwaya, Makindye Sub County, Wakiso District is being charged for punching his colleague to death over a debt.

 

Reports state that Sheikh Umar Kabugo a teacher at the school was seen fighting with the school cook Musa Mugisa in his rented room for failure to pay back his debt of Ush50,000. The fight was intercepted by a fellow colleague, Kyamukonzo Hamis who offered to help Mugisa pay back the money.

 

“I ran quickly to the mosque and called upon worshippers to help me break up the fight because it was extremely violent. When we got hold of him, I gave him the money on Mugisa’s behalf and he acted like he was done with the fight,” he said.

 

After receiving his money, Kabugo is said to have hit Mugisa. He was rushed to Lubaga Hospital but unfortunately died on arrival.

 

“He died on arrival but I was still communicating to Kabugo who was following us to know the situation at hand. I lied to him that he was still alive so I could get him at the hospital to be arrested,” Hamis revealed.

 

Katwe Police with lead investigator Julius Bwayivu arrived at the scene and upon investigations; they discovered a hoe that is suspected to have been used by Kabugo to hit Mugisa to death.

 

Mugisa was swiftly arrested and taken to Katwe police and the body taken to Mulago Referral Hospital for postmortem.

 

The body of the deceased awaits to be transported to Kasese District for burial and his relatives cried out to police for justice and compensation to see that they cover the funeral expenses.
