Police Arrest Khwisero Gang Stealing Food In Funerals
Residents of Khwisero Constituency breath have hope of living without fear as police begin arrest of gang raiding funerals and homes to steal food stuffs.
The popular night gang known as Paka Mang’aa comprising of 20 people, commonly attack funerals, homes and also stand by the road to steal from those travelling at night.
They terrorize residents and mourners before making away with whatever they deem fit.
As reported by the Standard, the popular gang stormed one funeral armed with machetes, scared away mourners and ran with Chapati and tea.
“They stormed the funeral at night and asked where the food was while armed with machetes. They took the food and threatened anyone who stood in their way. They destroyed a few things before they left,” Jemimah Okano naratted to the Standard.
Jemima called upon the law enforcers to tighten security and implement ban on night discos which is propelling the gangs’ acts.
However according to Kisa South Chief Florence Afune, they have arrested five members of the gang following a tip from the public.
“We have managed to arrest five members of the Paka Mang’aa gang and we are in pursuit of another 15 members. This is after locals tipped us that they were being terrorised at night by a youthful criminal gang. We are urging residents to cooperate and share any information about the group so that we can get rid of the gang,” said Afune.
He warned residents against attending Disco matangas so as to make the operation of arresting the 15 easier.
The five are currently held at Khwisero Police Station.
