Kevin De Bruyne’s Goal Earns Manchester City Draw Against Real Madrid

Manchester City drew 1-1 against Champions league holders Real Madrid through Kevin De Bruyne’s brilliant volley at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday night.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois had a decent first half as he denied De Bruyne, Rodri, and Erling Haaland twice during the early stages of the game.

However, Vinicius Jr. scored with Real Madrid’s only effort in the first half, firing a thunderous 25-yard shot that went past Ederson after an excellent run by left back Eduardo Camavinga and giving the home side a 1-0 halftime lead.

In the second half,Manchester City improved their game and eventually got the important goal through Kevin De Bruyne after being set up perfectly by Ilkay Gundogan.

Real Madrid fans led by Ancelotti were furious as Bernardo Silva seemed to have controlled the ball from outside the pitch in the buildup to the goal. Ederson brilliantly saved Aurelien Tchouameni’s effort in the final minutes as the game went on to finish level.

Carlo Ancelotti was not happy after he was booked during Manchester City’s goal aftermath.

“I don’t know why. I was not on the pitch. I think he could give a yellow card to the player, not the manager.” He said.

The second leg will be played at the Etihad next week, with the winner of the tie having to face Inter Milan or AC Milan.
