Teenager Commits Suicide After Being Denied Food

A teenager in Namatala Village, Kachonga Sub County, Butaleja District was reported dead by sucicide after being denied food.
The deceased identified as Dundo Stephen,, 15 reportedly visited his sister’s restaurant for a lunch meal but she refused to serve him because he had not cleared a debt of Ush1,000. He then went back to his father who gave him the money to help settle the old debt.
According to Bukedi Regional Police spokerpserson Mugwe Moses, the deceased cleared his bill but the sister refused to serve him the food on credit again. As a result, a quarrel ensued between the two siblings which later developed into a physical fight. It was then that Dundo ran off and took the poison.
“Upon the relatives discovering that he had taken poison, they tried giving him first aid but his condition worsened before he was rushed to Nabiganda Health Center IV where he died on arrival,” Mugwe stated.
The case was recorded at Nabiganda Police Station and the body of the deceased was taken back to his home after relatives stopped the police from taking it for postmortem.
Mugwe further confirmed the green plastic bottle that contained the remains of the poison being among the exhibits that were retrieved from the scene by the detectives.
