Deputy RDC Solomon Baleke (M) reconciling Okotch (R) with one of his sons

An elderly man in Namayingo District has sought help from the office of the Resident District Commissioner after his two sons threw out his new bride from his house.

Okotch John Pius, a resident of Namutaba-Banda reportedly parted ways with his wife, Auma Susan because of irreconcilable differences that forced her to leave the marital home, leaving her children behind.

It is then that John Pius decided to marry the new bride and bring her into the family home, something that triggered his older sons.

They claimed that the new bride misrepresented their father’s image and was not the perfect fit to take their mother’s place.

Following his report, the Deputy RDC, Solomon Baleke convened a family meeting to have the family issues resolved. Speaking in a meeting, Okotch narrated how his children not only physically assaulted him in his own house but also tried to take over his wealth.

“They have been pushing, beating and bullying me in my own compound. They want to take my properties that I bought before some of them were even born,” he said, pleading to the authorities to stop his children from harassing him.

The victim’s first son Mangeni Andrew, explained that they sabotaged their father’s marriage because the new bride was already married to another man, something that was embarrassing to their family.

“That is not the right person because she is someone’s wife. We told him to look for someone reasonable because she does not even come from a responsible family,” he said.

Baleke while reconciling the family revealed that the major cause of the fights was the fear that the new bride would take over the property and deny the children their inheritance.

“I advise the father to make a will with clear instructions on the division of the property so they don’t have to fight,” he said as he reunited the formerly dysfunctional family.
