Two days after Kabarak University’s verified Facebook page was hacked; the varsity administration has however not recovered their official account.

 

 

The hacker who claim to be a student from Jakarta’s IT – based high school ( Indonesia), allege he was having fun on Facebook and got himself having hacked the account thus as the case, is daring the Institution to reclaim their page or have it sold .

 

 

Following the hacking which the impersonator is using to post funny posts, the institution’s management has gone ahead to open another page urging students to avoid the hacked one.

We want to assure our stakeholders and the general public that we are taking all necessary measures to regain control of our page and prevent any further unauthorized access.

 

 

“We urge our followers and prospective students to disregard information posted by these criminals and to contact us directly through our official website or other verified channels.

 

 

“It is important to note that any information or advertisements posted on our Facebook page by these criminals do not represent our institution, and we dissociate ourselves from them entirely” reads part of the statement.

 

 

Further, despite their trials to recover the page, the institution has gone ahead to suspend the ICT manager in charge of managing the institution’s social media pages for an unknown period of time.

 

 

Since our official page was hacked, we as the Kabarak University have decided to surrender this page to this scammer and we’ve been ordered to create another page.

 

 

“We’ve forwarded this case to the concerned authorities and the action is being undertaken. We do apologize for any inconvenience brought by the malicious act. We’ve decided to suspend the ICT manager till further notice. Follow our new page for new updates from the University,” read the notice.

 

 

As a dare to let Kabarak re-own their page having over 51,000 followers and 38,000 likes; the hacker has given the institution an option to be paid Ksh 68, 250 before handing them the page.

 

 

I also have another option, you guys just give me 500$ , and I’ll bring this page back, the offer is cheap for a big university” says the hacker.
