Home » Wetangula To Azimio: You Were Wrong

Azimio la Umoja allied legislators have walked out of the plenary session after National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula declined to effect the removal of Sabina Chege as Deputy Minority Whip.

While reading his ruling, Wetangula raised claims that the Raila Odinga led coalition didn’t follow standing orders in writing to ask him to okay the removal.

He claims that they only requested for her removal without offering a replacement thus only partially meeting the requirements of the standing order 20A of the National Assembly.

The speaker further gave the coalition 30 more days requesting them to put their house in order.

“I am inclined that we allow the minority side 30 days so that they put their house in order, by the time the House resumes it is my expectation my office will be in receipt of communication from the minority party replacing the Deputy Minority Whip if they so wish, in a manner contemplated by the standing orders,”said Wetangula.

However, the minority side disagreed with the ruling questioning its basis with others wanting him to okay the removal and give them time to search for the replacement a request the speaker denied making the MPs Storm out of the parliament.
