Ni Maombi: Pastor Ezekiel’s Congregants Celebrate His Release
New Life Church pastor Ezekiel Odero has been released by Mombasa law courts on 3 M bond or 1.5 cash bail, pending for further prob into his case.
The clergy was arrested on 27 April at his premise in Mavueni, Kilifi County after being linked to Shakahola massacre of over 100 people.
Upon his arrest, his church, New Life Church was closed by National Police Service (NPS) .
On 3rd May, the clergy through his lawyers Danstan Omari and Cliff Ombeta through Mombasa High Court, ordered Inspector General Japheth Koome to re-open his church New Life based in Mavueni.
The arrest of pastor Ezekiel linked to Shakahola massacre, led to detaining of the clergy under indoctrination of the faithful, terrorism charges amongst other charges related to mass killings.
” Parties will be at liberty to apply for the closure of this file once the investigations are complete,” says the judge at Shanzu Law Courts.
Additionally, prior to the court ruling, Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK) suspended the working of Evanjelism Tv linked to Pastor Ezekiel and Times Tv linked to controversial preacher, Paul Mackenzie; which actions from CAK are still in progress.
On 2nd May, the court opted to detain Pastor Ezekiel for a period of 30 days but through his lawyers, they rejected the order which has bored fruits on 5th May.
However, Pastor Ezekiel has been released on condition; bond, 3M or cash bail 1.5 M, to report to Directorate for Criminal Investigations (DCI) weekly and make no comment on the Shakahola massacre as the DCI continue investigating his case.
As a way of expressing joy to the man of cloths’ release, his congregants who flocked Shanzu Courts singing, worshipping and earnestly praying to God for his release started chanting after the verdict.
