Leeds United have sacked head coach Javi Garcia and immediately appointed Sam Allardyce to fill the position.

In a statement on Wednesday, Leeds announced that Garcia will leave along with his assistants Zigor Aranalde, Mikel Antia and Juan Solla.

“We thank Javi and his team for their efforts under difficult circumstances,” the club announced via its official website.

The four have been fired after managing the English Premier League club in just twelve matches. They took the helm of Leeds United after the former coach, Jesse Marsch was sacked.

“The remaining four games of the season will be managed by experienced head coach Sam Allardyce,” Leeds announced.

Sam Allardyce, who is 68 years old, will aim to save the club from being relegated from the Premier League. His first match in charge of Leeds United will be against the defending champions, Manchester City. After that he will lead the club to play against Newcastle, West Ham and Tottenham.

Allardyce is the third coach to manage Leeds United in the 2022/23 season. The previous two coaches, Garcia and Marsch were sacked following a series of poor results in Premier League matches.

Currently, the club is in seventeenth place in the EPL table while having played a total of 34 matches
