“I Admire You” Joyce Omondi Praises Waihiga Mwaura
They say hard work pays and when luck knocks at your door, open it. On Tuesday, 2nd, May 2023; Citizen Tv’s news anchor Waihiga Mwaura landed a new job at BBC Africa .
The award winning media personality who started as a sports news reporter for Citizen Tv before transitioning to news anchoring, took to his social media handles informing fans of his next step.
” After 14 amazing years at Royal Media Services( Citizen Tv), my time here has come to an end” read part of Waihiga’s post on Twitter.
This was echoed with jubilation by his wife who doubles as a colleague at RMS by congratulating him for his next step in media arena.
” Shine on my love. We will miss you higgy!! Kila la heri! Thank you for being an amazing colleague” Joyce Omondi posted .
However, BBC on the other hand appreciated Waihiga by welcoming him at BBC Africa where he’ll be stationed for Focus on Africa Tv program; which the media looks forward into getting more audience from African youth.
“Some of you may have encountered him in London before, as he was the 2018 winner of the BBC News Komla award. He joins the programme at a crucial juncture, as we to seek to reach younger audiences, and tell more original and impactful stories,” reads part of BBC statement.
However, during a farewell address session to RMS’s workmates led by media personality Trevor Ombija, Joyce Omondi took her time in showering her husband with immense love on air that left attendees in utter amazements.
” I’m glad I finally get to surprise Waihiga on Air. He doesn’t like surprises…I admire you, as a leader, a person and a human being. You are incredibly talented, and so hard working and I see the hours that you put in and I just honor you for it. I thank God for opening this door for you and I know that your light is gonna shine brighter and brighter.
“Listening to your team and the entire wonderful thing they had to say about whom you are and I wanna be like you when I grow up.
“I Love you, I celebrate you and I will always be just behind you, cheering you on as your number one fan,” Joyce Omondi praised her husband.
In response to his wife’s comment as captured in a trending video clip, Waihiga praised the Rauka Gospel show host on how beautiful, loving and caring she has been in his life.
” My love that is the most beautiful thing any has said to me today. I have received a lot of wonderful warm messages but your top them all, above and beyond. Thank you so much. (Zile zingine nitakwambia baadaye).
“And to the team here, the last 14 years have been an amazing season for me. I have met amazing people, we have done great work and love what I do…and pray for me where I’m going,” said the now BBC Journalist.
Waihiga before his exit from RMS media company, has worked for the firm for 14 years in his media career.
