Arsenal Reclaim Top Spot After Win Against Chelsea
Arsenal returned to winning ways after four games with a 3-1 win over struggling Chelsea at the Emirates on Tuesday evening.
The Gunners went into the game having seen their lead at the top taken by Manchester City.
Captain Martin Odegaard scored a brace at the Emirates, while Gabriel Jesus punished Chelsea’s defense for failing to clear the ball. Ben Chillwell had the best chance of the half for Chelsea but saw his effort brilliantly saved by Aaron Ramsdale.
In the second half, Chelsea were the better side and got a goal back through Madueke, who scored his first goal for Chelsea. Substitute Mudyrk had a bright game off the bench and created a few chances for his teammates but could not finish.
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard said that the club has not lost its belief in the title.
“Everyone was so hurt after the defeat against City,” he said. “We used the anger and the disappointment to get back into this game.
” You can lose games, but the way we lost, we didn’t play our game and weren’t ourselves; that was the most painful thing, and we wanted to show a different side, and we definitely did. “We have to fight and keep going. We believe and will fight until the end.” He concluded.
