General Francis Ogolla Sworn In As New Chief Of Defence Forces
Gen Francis Ogolla has been sworn in as Kenya’s new Chief of Defence Forces (CDF). Gen Ogolla takes over from Gen Robert Kibochi who has retired.
Ogolla, who deputized Kibochi as Vice Chief of Defence Forces, held the rank of Lieutenant General until his promotion on Friday to the rank of General following the recommendation of the Defence Council.
He was sworn in at State House Nairobi on Saturday morning in the presence of President William Ruto who doubles up as the Commander in Chief of the country’s armed forces.
Gen Ogolla is a graduate of ÉcoleMilitaire de Paris and the National Defence College of Kenya.
He holds a Diploma in International Studies and Military Science from Egerton University, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Armed Conflict and Peace Studies (First Class Honors) and Masters of Arts in International Studies from the University of Nairobi.
He rose through the ranks to become a Major General and was appointed the Commander Kenya Air Force on July 15, 2018, a post he has served for three years.
Lt Jonah maina Mwangi was sworn in as Vice Chief of Defence Forces.
