Man Arrested Over Attempting To Steal Billions From The Dead
Police in Kampala have arrested and put behind bars a man who tried to withdraw billions of money from someone else’s account.
It is said that Kigozi Solomon was apprehended after he visited Standard Chartered Bank at Speke Road and tried withdrawing a whooping sum of UGX 6 billion from an accounting belonging to a one Ssekayiza Andrew using forged documentation.
The suspect allegedly filled in forms with an intention of transferring the funds to his account but was busted before the transaction was finalized.
Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed Kigozi’s arrest and revealed that upon investigation into the account’s owner, it was discovered that he had already passed on.
Kigozi was arrested and taken to Central Police Station (CPS), Kampala and was found with a fake ID in the late Ssekayiza’s name plus his forged signature on a piece of paper. This was meant to confuse the bank tellers that he was the owner of the account.
