Man Abandons Family Of 5 Over Wife’s Disability
A mother of four is stranded after her husband abandoned them following her disabilities, leaving the children fending for themselves and taking care of the home at their young age.
Juliet Nabagereka, 45, a resident of Bwaise, a Kampala suburb reveals that the father of her children only identified as Tom abandoned them in a rental house and without his support, her four children stopped going to school because they are busy looking for money to take care of her.
At the beginning of their marriage, she had a minor disability on her arm since birth but as time went on, the disability advanced to her leg due to the complications she went through during the birth of her last born daughter.
When she got handicapped and weaker, her husband stopped coming home and openly bashing and criticizing her for her disability. It’s been three years since she last heard from him and communication was completely cut off.
The distraught mother reveals she is currently helpless and unable to pay for the rental house since the odd jobs done by the children are not enough to raise the money to pay for the five months arrears.
Joseph Ssengendo, the youth chairman of the region narrated the sad situation that the children live in and as a society they could not afford to take care of the family and provide all the basic needs without help.
