Police in Gomba District have arrested a woman for conniving with his children to murder their father in cold blood.

The deceased identified as Vincent Lubega, a 65-year-old resident of Kikoko Mpenja was butchered by his children over a piece of land which he had refused to surrender to them. He allegedly made a decision to sell it and before he could collect the money, he was attacked by his children who were believed to have worked with their mother to take his life.

“We are very sure their mother worked hand in hand with her children to kill her husband because she has been taunting and threatening him for a long time,” a neighbor said.

The accused children, Robert Lugendo and Roger Bukenya had earlier attacked, ordering him to sell his land and give them the money, something he did not agree to and just before his death; the two sons were seen surveilling the area where their father stayed before they could attack in the middle of the night.

Lubega’s lifeless body was found in a pool of blood by a neighbor’s child who was on his way to school very early in the morning. The neighbors who heard the news rushed over to his house, only to find Lubega slaughtered in the neck area.

When the news about Lubega’s death spread, the three suspects were among the first people to arrive at the scene but survived being lynched by the mob. They were only saved by police who whisked them away into custody.

According to his sister Nabukenya Solome, the deceased was living alone at the time of his death because he had separated from his wife, Mary Nakafeero. He is said to have bought her a piece of land in a different area where she settled with her children.

The village chairman Katende James blamed the unfortunate events on laziness among the youths who do not want to work for their money, and instead choose to focus on their parents’ property.
