Family Man Collapses And Dies After Kabaka Run Marathon

Residents in Namungoona were saddened by the death of one of their own who collapsed after the Kabaka Marathon run on Sunday.
The deceased identified as Tonny Kiwenda Lukwago had a successful run where he emerged third in a race participated in by thousands of people around the country. As they approached the finishing line, the deceased is said to have collapsed on the ground.
It is said that eyewitnesses tried to give him space thinking it was fatigue from the long race but they were surprised when his condition became worse. He was rushed to Orthodox Hospital where he breathed his last.
“He was among the people leading in this race while I was in 10th position. When I got to him, he had collapsed. We rushed him to hospital but he was already dead,” a friend and eyewitness revealed.
Relatives close to the deceased revealed he was in perfect health before the run and pinned his sudden death to a Cardiac arrest.
The 10th Edition of the annual Kabaka Birthday Run in Lubiri, Mengo had about 100,000 people who participated in the 5km, 10km and 21km.
