Bayern Munich Face Manchester City In UEFA Quarter Final

Guardiola returns to face his former club for the first time since leaving Bayern Munich to join Manchester City in 2016.
He had hoped to meet Julian Nagelsmann’s side again but the German side recently sacked him in favor of Thomas Tuchel – a name Guardiola is more familiar with.
The managers (Tuchel and Guardiola) have met 10 times previously during the decade-long competition with Guardiola winning six and Tuchel three, all of those achievements coming in the six-week period between 17 April and 29 May 2021.
That run, which included an FA Cup semi-final for Chelsea and a Champions League final win over City, led to the impression that Tuchel had the edge over Guardiola.
But City beat Tuchel’s Chelsea twice in the Premier League last season, and with four wins and one draw in Germany, including the 2016 DFB-Pokal final, Guardiola has the better record.
Guardiola has had a mixed season against his former clubs. He has faced Barcelona four times since leaving, twice with City and twice with Bayern. He won two of those, but lost the other matches 3-0 and 4-0.
