9 Family Members Perish In Ghastly Accident
The Territorial traffic police at Kinoni yesterday afternoon recorded a fatal accident that claimed the lives of nine family members.
The tragic accident happened at Kyoja Trading Center along Masaka-Mbarara highway at 4PM when a Toyota Alphard plate number UBL 314C that was coming from Kampala heading to Mbarara had a head on collision with a fuel truck reg no SSD 327S/SSD 137Q that was coming from Mbarara/Kinoni Town.
According to PRO Traffic and Road Safety ASP Faridah Nampiima, the person driving the Alphard was at a very high speed when he crashed into the fuel tanker killing the nine passengers in the Alphard on spot. The deceased were reported to be 7 adults and two toddlers.
The driver of the truck and his turn man were reported to have sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Masaka referral hospital for medical treatment.
“We take this opportunity to warn all motorists travelling to upcountry for Easter celebrations to drive carefully, avoid speeding, phone driving, drink driving and all other road indiscipline that result in accidents,” Faridah said in the statement.
