Notorious Grave Robber Arrested In Possession Of Skull, Digging Tools
Police in Nigeria, Ogun Estate have arrested a grave robber identified as Gbesemenhan Solomon after a couple of weeks of man hunt.
For the past two months, residents of Ogun Estate in Ipokia have been lamenting on the issue of unknown persons invading graves and stealing skulls.
This has made Ipokia people shocked over the increase loss of skulls where persons invade, dig graves and go away with skulls.
According to one Nigerian media outlet Premium Times, one Ipokia resident by name Morufat told them that the dead no longer rest in peace as it is alleged.
She said for the past two months, over 50 graves have been invaded by robbers who walked away with skulls preferred for rituals.
However, they had reported the worrying happenings to the police; Ipokia residents last week started being vigilant at night until on Monday night, Solomon was arrested near a grave side in Idogun area around Ipokia when digging the grave.
Morufat added that they found Gbesemenhan Solomon at the grave in possession of digging tools and a skull in his bag.
The town ruler of Ipokia, Yisa Olaniyan also confirmed to Premium Times that they had earlier reported the increase cases of grave robbery by persons believed to be ritualists until they apprehended one; Solomon.
Ipokia police spokesperson Abimbola Oyeyemi also confirmed on Thursday, 5th that residents had reported grave robbery case but had not yet apprehended one.
“Yes it is true. We arrested one person in connection to the crime and we are still in search of two others who are accomplices and by the grace of God they will all be apprehended,” the police spokesperson said.
Currently, Solomon is in police custody under interrogation as he wait for his fate.
