Stray Dog Goes On Rampage Injuring 25 People, Animals
Panic filled the residents of Matugga Kiryagonja in Wakiso District after a stray dog went on a rampage and injured people and animals.
The unclaimed dog is said to have attacked 25 people and animals including five dogs, two cows and a pig in two days.
According to the village chairperson, Wasswa Bernard, locals saw this male dog roaming in different parts of the village but they did not mind it. At around 9:30 AM it attacked its very first victim, a 1 year old who was playing at his home compound. Before midday, the stray dog is said to have attacked five more children but the parents did not come forward.
“I rushed to the clinic and was shocked to find 15 people. The number had increased. We later realized that all the victims had been attacked in a space of just an hour.” Wasswa revealed.
The victims were rushed to Kagoma town in a popular clinic that specializes in treating dog bites. They are currently recovering from home
Wasswa further noted that getting the victims medication was pricey and most parents did not have enough money.
“I paid Ush1 Million but it was not enough because each patient was billed Ush260,000. Well wishers bailed us out.’ He said.
Most victims were children aged 1-11 years.
