The two brothers Ali Kulumba and Abubaker Kiyinji during the village meeting

Two brothers were excommunicated from the village after it was alleged that the two were tormenting fellow residents with their acts of witchcraft.

The brothers identified as Ali Kulumba and Abubaker Kiyinji were residents of Naluvule, Wakiso District and their banishment came after the pair was accused of bewitching a number of people around the village. To settle the matter, the locals summoned a quick meeting and jointly agreed to have them dealt with.

After the meeting, they were given an ultimatum of just one day to see that they pack up all their belongings and leave with their families. However some of the locals who had attended the meeting pleaded on their behalf, reasoning that they should be given more time to prepare as they had school going children.

“They have children at school and it is their first term. I’m requesting we let their children get holidays to help them prepare well before they leave.” An elderly woman revealed.

The father to the accused condemned the actions of his sons and supported their excommunication. He even offered them money as a startup because he believed the community could no longer accommodate them and their vile ways.

“They should look for houses and leave this place. They have a time frame of three months while their children are finishing school to prepare and leave.” The father said.

Ali Kulumba’s wife who is accused of being the mastermind behind the evil acts denied the accusations and revealed that they were fueled by her brother-in-law who had earlier shown interest in her.

“He told my husband about how beautiful I was and the fact that I take care of myself and give birth to children of all sexes. In turn he degraded his wife. Maybe he does not like me because of all this.” She said.

Kiyinji filled with shame, amidst tears fell on his knees and pleaded with his father to forgive him but in vain. He further warned them not to settle near their former village.
