Drama As Two Men Fight Over Paternity Of 8-Year-Old Girl
Drama ensued after two grown men showed up at Kyengera Police in Wakiso District, fighting over a child identified as Immaculate Namboozo with each of them claiming paternity
It is said that the father Julius Bukomba who previously had custody had earlier assigned the child to a caretaker but continued to take care of her in all aspects since her birth. To the shock of the caretaker, another man identified as Davis Lubega appeared claiming ownership of the child forcing the confused lady to involve police in the struggle.
While at the station, the said father of the child, Bukomba narrated that he met the mother, Naluboowa Juliet in June 2014 and after one week of staying together, she told him that she was pregnant, later giving birth to Immaculate. Bukomba says he took her to his ancestral home in Bugisu for a successful naming ceremony. As she turned two years old, the couple separated after Bukomba caught her red handed cheating on him with another man who was not Lubega.
“The child was two and a half years old when we parted ways. My child does not even know who her mother is and she keeps asking what she looks like.” He said.
Julius is hell bent on proving that he is Immaculate’s father and requested anyone who thinks otherwise to stay away because he has gone through a lot to raise the child as a single father.
Lubega on the other hand, also insisted that he was the child’s father. He claims Naluboowa had disappeared into thin air leaving him clueless about the whereabouts of this child.
“Since then, I have not heard from her mother. I did not have her number or know her whereabouts until I called her relatives who directed me to where the child was staying.” Lubega said.
The now eight year old Immaculate was left confused on who her real father actually is.
Mayor Kyengera Town Council, Mathias Walukagga encouraged both men to accept and do a DNA on the child to ascertain who the real father is
“However much a child looks like you, please consider a DNA test because many children are in homes they do not belong in. People are raising children that do not belong to them because it is easier for a woman to change a child’s paternity to where there is money.” He said
