Residents in Wakimese Zone Kyengera, Uganda woke up to sad news after it was reported that a young man committed suicide in a lodge nearby.

The deceased, identified as Namugera Herbert left his home district, Ssembabule with Shs. 7 Million that he had saved up to register with a labor export company for a job in United Arab Emirates (UAE)

When he got to Kyengera, Herbert is said to have sought services of a sex worker only identified as Brenda. The two  visited Channel Three Inn lodge and while Herbert was asleep, Brenda ran away with all the money he had.

The lodge attendants stated the deceased had spent a full week at their premises and every night, he would usher in a different sex worker until he met Brenda who stole his cash. From the unfortunate night, Herbert decided to take his own life in the same premises using a bed sheet which he tied on the pole inside the bathroom roof.

“We woke up this morning with the service providers of this place claiming they tried to call Herbert in the morning but he was not opening the door. When we got there, he had committed suicide” A witness said.

Residents around the area called out sex workers who rob and harm their customers. They also cautioned the men to stop moving with huge sums of money as they bring about such cases.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed that the deceased opened up a case file against the suspected thief, Brenda at Kyengera police station under SD REF 21/10/03/2023 before he took his life as he had no hope of retrieving his money.

“We want to call upon people who come to Kampala for important businesses and have money, never go close to women especially sex workers because they always have their bad intentions.” Patrick revealed.

The body of the deceased was transported to Mulago Referral Hospital for postmortem.
