Man Fined Ksh. 10,000 For Calling Police Officers Illiterate
Man who called police officers illiterate people, has been fined Ksh 10,000 or serve six months in prison.
According to Makadara law court statement, Peter Njuguna went to Kayole Police Station on 3rd March, 2023 around 3pm and started an altercation with with the cop on duty, which later insulted the cops as illiterate people.
“He checked into the police station on the stated day at about 3pm and found the officer of duty. He was drunk and he without any provocation, insulted the police present.
“Attempts by officers to escort him outside proved futile as he continued hurling insults at the law enforcers. He was then arrested and placed in cells waiting for further interrogation” reads the statement in parts.
Following the actions, Makadara Chief Magistrate Francis Kyambia fined Njuguna Ksh 10,000 or serve six months in prison.
The victim while defending himself before the chief magistrate at Makadara, he pleaded guilty claiming he was drunk when paying a visit to his brother who had been arrested and was in custody at Kayole Police Station.
” I was under the influence of hard drinks and had gone to bail out my brother at the police station but we disagreed on the terms so I was left desolate and angered thus the insults” Njuguna said.
The Kayole man, is now still in police cell after his cries of mercy earning him a fine of Ksh 10, 000 or six months of mercy in the cell.
