Parents Storm School In Protest Over Homosexuality Allegations Against Teacher
As homosexuality continues to be a big issue in Uganda especially in schools, parents and old students at PMM Girls School in Jinja City stormed the school premises in protest against a female teacher they accuse of perverting their children.
The angry parents accuse the school management of being reluctant to address the numerous issues and complaints against one of their teachers Mukoda Lydia who they say has continuously engaged their daughters in acts of homosexuality in different lodges around the city.
The angry parents were stopped from entering the school gates and they accused the authorities of aiding and protecting a predator. A parent who preferred anonymity accused Mukoda of sodomizing her daughter last year who later developed health complications.
“At night she puts on a hat and a trouser masquerading to be a man. She uses our children in lodges around Buwenge. She is promoting homosexuality and there is a student named Esther that they say she destroyed.” A disgruntled parent spoke out.
Police later arrived at the scene and tried to calm the situation down in vain. Kiira Regional spokesperson James Mubi has assured parents that the matter would be handled and also tasked school authorities to always look out for the teachers they bring around the children.
“We have not yet charged her because we have to investigate, go to court and grant her a fair hearing. We cannot judge and convict her because she is still a suspect.” James said.
The school authorities tried to call the situation to order promising to solve the issue immediately
“We are going to come out with a statement about a way forward in regard to the alleged issue of our staff member in that very unfortunate event. I’m urging the parents and all stakeholders of our school to be calm.” A school stakeholder said.
Deputy Mayor Fazila Kawuma has vowed to fight against such immoralities and promises to visit and spy on different schools and bring to book the culprits.
“A leaders we should eliminate such a person so that the vice does not spread to other teachers and our children because it will destroy our nation.” She said,
