Teacher Arrested For Assaulting Student Over ‘Mahamri’
The Mbeya Regional Police Force in Tanzania is holding a teacher,Peter Emmanuel (29), at Loiler Secondary School located in Mdogo wa Mbalizi in Mbeya Region in Tanzania on suspicion of attacking a student with a stick for allegedly stealing five doughnuts.
Mbeya Regional Police Commander, Benjamin Kuzaga, said that the incident happened on February 10, 2023 at Loiler Secondary School in Mbeya region.
The commander said that the suspect and the school’s security guard Haruna Issa (30), a resident of Iwala, attacked the 16-year-old Form four student, a resident of Mwangake, with blows on various parts of the body and caused him injuries.
The commander said that the suspects accused the anonymous student of stealing five doughnuts which costs TSh. 300 each.
The commander said that the teacher and the guard attacked him with whips and caused injuries to his forehead, left hand and both knees.
“After attacking and injuring him, on the day of the incident at around 5:00 p.m., they rushed him to the Ifisi Select Hospital for treatment.
“The Police Force through its informants got information and made a follow-up to determine the occurrence of the incident and finally arrested both suspects,” said the commander.
The commander has said that the investigation of the matter is ongoing and once it is completed the suspects will be brought to court any time from now
