Ex-Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa Appointed DAP-K Party Leader

Former Defence and Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugine Wamalwa has been appointed as the new Party Leader of the Democratic Action Party – Kenya (DAP-K).

 

Wamalwa takes over from former Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi who has been at the helm of the party on an acting capacity since December 4, 2021. Wamunyinyi has been relegated to Deputy Party Position.

 

 

“The re-organization and re-positioning of DAP-K take effect immediately and the same has been communicated to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties,” the party said.

 

Party’s National Executive Council (NEC) which held its meeting on Wednesday, February 15, also maintained DAP-K will remain in the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition.

 

“The party remains a part of Azimio One Kenya political party as resolved by the formative NDC on 14/12/2021and will work with all like-minded parties in the said coalition in pursuit of a better multiparty environment in Kenya,” DAP-K NEC leadership said in a statement.

 

Dick Maungu, Luanda Member of Parliament (MP) has been named the party’s new Organising Secretary.

 

Bernard Masanja who has been the party’s 1st deputy party leader has taken over the post and functions of Deputy Secretary General while Eseli Simiyu has retained his position as the party’s Secretary General.

 

“@wamunyinyi has spearheaded DAP-K to become the 4th biggest party in Kenya with elected leaders across the country. A true Leopard doesn’t change its spots,” the party wrote on Twitter.
