Funeral Announcer Godfrey Jjemba Quits Celebrity Lifestyle

Godfrey Jjemba, Uganda’s sensational funeral announcer has shared his regrets of short-lived celebrity lifestyle. The father of 11 said his ‘rich’ lifestyle ended prematurely because of the people who surrounded him.
In an exclusive with Daily Monitor; Jjemba, a funeral announcer, became a household name across East Africa in 2021 when his photos and clips went viral on social media, showing him making funeral announcements.
In the viral clips and photos, Godfrey Jjemba was used as a meme in entertainment social media posts and video clips. His trend made content creators and journalists look for him to get digital content.

However, Mr Godfrey Jjemba never enjoyed his celebrity lifestyle for long. He told the Uganda Daily that he was used and dumped.
“My fellow celebrities used me, and after getting what they wanted, they dumped me,” the father of 11 shared his short-lived fame.
He revealed that when journalists, gym owners, hawkers, and musicians used to pay him visits, they made him a big person and mostly enjoyed life with a big spoon. However, when they left him, he ran broke.

“Some people who were using me included those who sell suits, own gyms, and even musicians. Unfortunately, they paid me peanuts for my name.
“Though I am still a prominent person in the country, it pains me when I no longer receive the big number of visitors and fellow celebrities I used to get,” Mr Jjemba revealed.
The frustrated funeral announcer added that he settled for small-scale farming, including poultry and cattle, after terminating a contract with his manager and bodyguard because of financial struggles.
