“Nilikuwa Naichukia”: Gen Z Journalist Azeezah Hashim Says She Used To Hate Her Deep Voice
Vocal Gen Z Journalist Azeezah Hashim, popularly the Media Messiah, has opened up on her child’s life with a deep voice. In a recent chit-chat with MC Jessy, she said girls of her age used to laugh at her.
Azeezah stated that at some point, she used to develop low self-esteem on herself in the company of other girls because of her deep voice.
At some point, Azeezah Hashim revealed that she could stay silent or look for company from boys where she could find peace and solace.

“My voice has been deep since my childhood but it’s something I used to avoid. I used to hate it,” she revealed her struggle with the deeper voice.
“At school, every moment my friend could say wewe ongea tu na hiyo base yako, I could feel so bad and sad. I never liked it. In the company of girls, I saw myself much different because of it,” she added.
Although the voice used to make her develop low self-esteem, it also gave her powers of command as a school prefect.

“Oftentimes, I desired to have a feminine voice like them but on the other hand, it helped me in raising concern when on duty as a school prefect,” she recounted.
Despite the challenges, she credited her mother for discovering and nurturing her into the media industry. Currently, she’s the mid-morning show host at Hot96.
