Jamaican reggae artist Winstone Rodney popularly Buring Spear has cancelled his planned Kenya Concert set for October. Taking to his social handles, the legendary maestro cited production issues with Kenya’s co-promoter as the cause.

Burning Spear added that Kenya’s local co-promoter failed to solve the production issues resulting in the cancellation of his Africa Tour Concert in Kenya.

“The Burning Spear Show in Kenya has been cancelled due to production issues. Unfortunately, the local co-promoter could not resolve these issues,” Sound System Club Ltd explained.

Sound System added that Burning Spear failed to negotiate the production issues with the local promoter. “Burning Spear sound is non-negotiable,” Sound System explained.

The legendary reggae maestro was set to perform in Kenya on October 12th, 2024, at Uhuru Gardens from 6pm to 6am in which several artists including Joe Marley, Miriam Simone and Jah Lex were to grace the event.

His planned show concert was to break the reggae dry spell of 17 years since he last performed in Kenya at Kasarani Stadium. In June 2007, the legendary singer filled the stadium to the brim after he squashed the entry fee.

In 2022, Burning Spear hinted at coming to Kenya to perform but he never showed up for unknown reasons that have yet to be unveiled. However, he will perform in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi.
