TV Journalist Simon Njala Launches ‘Why Are You Gay’ T-shirt

Uganda TV journalist Simon Kaggwa Njala has launched ‘Why Are You Gay’ T-shirt after his famous interview dated in 2012 with a transgender rights activist Pepe Julian Onziema.
Taking to his social handle, Mr Njala said his Why Are You Gay T-shirt will cost $ 59.00 equivalent to Ksh 7, 580.
Mr Simon Kaggwa Njala, a Morning Breeze host at NBS TV stated that his launched t-shirt is original, affordable and only found in Uganda.

“Kabooooom! You wanna rock in a Why Are You Gay T-shirt? The only original ‘Why Are You?’ Tee in existence. All proceeds go to Uganda. Absaaad, I know!” Mr Njala said.
In December 2012, Mr Njala hosted a transgender rights activist Pepe Julian Onziema which during the interview, he fired questions at him mercilessly that later caused a buzz on the internet.
In the interview, Mr Njala’s intro stated: “We bring in the studio this morning one of the gay rights activists, mister – should I call you “mister”? (Sure) – Pepe Julian Onziema. Thank you for coming in, good morning. Why are you gay? – Who says I’m gay? – You are gay.”

Although the interview was done in 2012, the humorous video clip never garnered a large audience until 2019 when a section of social media users revived it and made it go viral till date.
12 years down the line, Mr Njala has launched a t-shirt with his famous question Why Are You Gay that has been received joyously by social media users across East Africa.
