Christina Shusho: Nililazimishwa Kuolewa Ili Nisiharibike

Celebrated gospel singer Christina Shusho has said she was forced into marriage because of her beauty.
Speaking to a congregation of worshippers in Rwanda, the Shusha Nyavu singer said her entry into marriage at a young age was against her will. Christina Shusho added that the reason her mother married her to an old man when she was just 19, was to escape the shame that could have risen of getting children out of wedlock.

“Nimeolewa nikiwa na miaka 19 baada ya kidato cha nne na nilikuwa mrembo sana, msinione hivi ni vile nimechoka tu. Nilikuwa nikipita hivi wanaume walikuwa macho yote kwangu. Uzuri wangu ulimpa hofu mama yangu. Alikuwa anawaza huyu mtoto na uzuri huu akikaa hapa si ataharibika.” She said.
“…Sikuelewa nini maana ya mapenzi wala sikujua maana ya upendo, naweza sema nililazimishwa kuolewa ili nisibaribike lakini ilikuwa si kwa matakwa yangu” she added.
While in marriage, she used to be hurt by the trend of things especially house chores. Christina Shusho said at a young age in marriage, she cooked for 9 men and washed their clothes, yet she had been married to one man.

According to her, the kind of treatment made her look like a slave in that marriage because it was a forced marriage and she never loved it.
“Niliolewa na mtu mmoja lakini nilikuwa nahudumia ndugu wa mume wengine nane. Nilikuwa kama mtumwa. Nilikuwa mrembo lakini nilikuwa mjinga kichwani. Nikajiuliza hivi nimeolewa au ni mfanyakazi wa hawa watu? Sasa hivi sina ule uzuri tena lakini kichwani niko smart, najielewa na kujitambua” She revealed.
The mother of 3 had been married to the man of the cloth John Shusho but they parted ways. In the previous interviews, she alleged that she parted ways with her husband to pursue her calling in the ministry of the gospel.
