Family Highlights Reasons As To Why General Francis Ogolla Won’t Be Buried In A Casket

The family of the celebrated Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla has unveiled the instructions the late gave before his death.
In an exclusive with journalists who paid a visit to the family in Siaya County, the family said General Ogolla instructed them to be given a simple send-off after his death.
Besides the simple send-off, the late Chief of Defence Forces instructed his burial to occur within 72 hours.

According to the elder brother of the late General Francis Ogolla, the late also instructed to be buried without a casket but the Luo traditions be adhered to and those of his profession.
“The decision to be buried within 72 hours was his wish. He had informed the family that upon his demise he be buried within 72 hours and in a simple ceremony,” Canon Hezekiah Oduor said.
The reason the celebrated General instructed for a simple send-off was to protect the family from spending a lot for a burial ceremony that may later drain them down financially.

Before his unfortunate death in a plane crash in Elgeyo Marakwet County that claimed nine lives, his sister when speaking to the press, recognized him as a humble and generous man who had gone to the extent of building a church in their village.
“He helped the church and ensured its completion, provided a water borehole, and rewarded the schools he attended,” Peris Onyango said.
Following the instructions, the celebrated general will be laid to rest in his home in Siaya County on Sunday, 21st April 2024.
