Kirinyaga family has shocked netizens after a woman was allowed to wed her dead husband on 6th April 2024 at Our Lady Consolata Rukenya Church in Gichugu.

In a viral video shared online, Beatrice Muthoni was set to wed her husband Mr Martin Gitari on the said date, but he died before his grand wedding.

At the wedding, Martin’s sister said they were celebrating his beautiful stay in marriage and the same time, mourn his unexpected demise.

“We are celebrating two occasions, burying him and at the same time celebrating his marriage,” Martin’s sister explained before the wedding and the funeral ceremony.

Muthoni, a widow of the late, is reported she placed a wedding ring on her late husband’s finger while at the mortuary and during the burial ceremony, her grandson was graced with the opportunity to ring her.

Dressed in a wedding gown, Muthoni broke down in tears when the priest was officiating the wedding.

Priest, Father Francis Njoroge at the wedding said it was his first day to witness such an event but there was no way he could fail the family to grant it its wishes.

“This is my first such occasion since I became a priest, and we have done exactly what he wanted,” Father Njoroge remarked.

After the wedding, it is also reported that Muthoni changed her dress code and continued with the burial ceremony as per the Kikuyu tradition.
