Double Tragedy For Malkia Strikers Captain Mercy As She Loses Husband,Mother In-law
Kenya Women’s volleyball national team captain Mercy Moim has been thrown into a deep mourning after losing herhusband Joseph Chama Asuza in a tragic accident and mother in-law in a span of 4 days. The Malkia Strikers skipper had travelled with the team to Accra, Ghana for ongoing All African Games where she received the devastating news.
Her husband Joseph Chama Asuza, played for the defunct Red Berets FC before retiring from football. He met his untimely death at Thika Super Highway in Nairobi near Mathari Hospital on Sunday 19th March. According to police report read, “The victim sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to Guru Nanak Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. The body is awaiting postmortem.”
Reports says that Asuza jumped out of a moving car where he was hit by another oncoming vehicle causing his death. It is reported by that Asuu as he was commonly known, he was in the preparation for the burial arrangements of his mother who had passed days before.
The Malkia Strikers captain mourned her late husband with an emotional post where she took to her social media platforms and wrote, “R.I. P MY LOVE, LORD I NEED STRENGTH.” The Kenya Volleyball Federation organized for her immediate return to the country following the tragic loss of her two family members.
Mercy Moim’s teammates have vowed to defend the African Games volleyball title in honour of their team’s captain loss of her husband and mother-in-law in less than a week.
