Popular Nollywood actor Mr Ibu has passed on, Mideyah Digital has learnt.

Mr Ibu, whose real name is John Okafor died on the night of Saturday, February 2.

The actor reportedly passed away at Evercare Hospital in Lagos State after a long battle with illness.

It is important to note that the 62-year-old actor had been battling health issues that led to the amputation of his two legs.

Information from Nigeria intimated that Mr Ibu had been diagnosed with diseased blood vessels.

His unexpected death comes just months after his family and friends came out to plead for donations to cater for his treatment.

According to people close to the actor then, he “had constant clotting of the blood in his leg (diseased blood vessels) and other health challenges posing a risk to his life, therefore the needed amputation.”

Mideyah Digital understands that news of Mr Ibu’s death may have gone public but his family and representatives are yet to comment on the same publicly.

The actor had been battling health issues since October 2023 and underwent multiple surgeries.

In October 2023, Mr Ibu revealed that he was suffering from an ailment that threatened to amputate one of his legs.

He disclosed that he was struck by the problem while on a movie set with other Nollywood actors and actresses.

Mr Ibu had appealed to his fans and the public for prayers and financial assistance to cover his medical bills.

He also shared a video of himself lying in a hospital bed, expressing his fear of losing his leg.

Until his demise, the actor was an indigene of Nkanu West Lagos of Enugu State, Nigeria.

The actor is survived by one wife and three children.
