“Mwisho wa Raha”: Famous Lang’ata Road Club 1824 Demolished
Popular Lang’ata Nightclub 1824 has been demolished barely two months after its closure and reopening. Videos and photos circulating acros social media platforms on Friday showed bulldozers demolishing the popular entertainment joint leaving its rubble scattered where it stood.
The videos also depicted individuals attempting to salvage remnants from the demolition, while others were observed searching through the rubble and carrying items away.

The demolition comes after the High Court last month declined to lift orders freezing assets amounting to Ksh.643.2 million belonging to 1824 owner Wilson Nahashon Kanani.
Justice Esther Maina on September 13, 2023, barred Kanani from dealing with his properties including pieces of land, high-end vehicles and houses, as well as Ksh.48 million held in several bank accounts.
The directive came following a case filed by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), aiming to confiscate the assets of a Nairobi County government employee whose income source remained unexplained.
In its submission, the EACC asserted that Kanani held the position of Development Control Officer II within the Urban Planning Departmen of the Nairobi County government, with a monthly gross salary of Ksh. 88,530 or a net of Ksh. 55,866.
