We Were Forced To Tithe In Church- Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa Shares How Pastor Ng’ang’a Is A Ruthless Employer

Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa has unveiled startling revelations about his tenure as an employee of Pastor James Ng’ang’a of Neno Evangelism Centre during the early stages of his journalism career.

Speaking in an interview with a local radio station on Thursday, February 22, Thang’wa shed light on the harsh realities of working under the renowned pastor, exposing the ruthless nature of Pastor Ng’ang’a as both an employer in his church and as a businessman.

Thang’wa, who held a leadership position among the church’s staff, disclosed that he received a meager monthly compensation of Ksh30,000, despite his significant responsibilities. In stark contrast, the rest of the employees were paid based on their performance for the month, with no fixed salaries provided.

“From the salary, one was expected to offer 10 percent tithe of their salary as an offering,” he narrated.

“He never used to pay us via the bank. He would call us in his office within the church and call out names, whereby he would pay us according to what we had done in that particular month,” he added.

This disparity in remuneration exemplifies Pastor Ng’ang’a’s exploitative practices, highlighting his disregard for fair compensation and equitable treatment of his employees. Thang’wa’s testimony paints a damning picture of Pastor Ng’ang’a as a ruthless employer who prioritizes profit over the well-being of his staff, both in his church and in his business ventures.

Elaborating on the workings of the system, Thang’wa explained that his salary remained intact due to his close friendship with Pastor Ng’ang’a at the time. However, he lamented that other employees were not as fortunate and often faced salary deductions.

Recalling Ng’ang’a’s approach to payments, Thang’wa recounted how the pastor would arbitrarily reduce employees’ wages based on their perceived productivity. For instance, if an employee had contributed less in a particular month, Ng’ang’a would slash their pay accordingly, leaving them with significantly less than what they had earned in previous months.

“What have you done this month? How much do I pay you for that? Ksh15,000? This month you get Ksh5,000,” Thang’wa recalled Ng’ang’a’s uncompromising stance during salary disbursements.
