He’s Only Allowed To Perform In Villages- How Diamond Platnumz’s ‘Curse’ Killed Rich Mavoko’s Budding Career
Rich Mavoko has faced significant challenges in his music career lately. Since leaving WCB, his performances have been limited to small villages and very small arenas following the fallout with his former boss Diamond Platnumz who had signed him at Wasafi Records.
Diamond has also restricted him from giving interviews to the media or engaging in other artistic activities, following contractual disputes that led to legal action. Mavoko has also been banned from releasing music collaborations with other top artists either locally or globally.
Addressing these claims during an interview on Clouds FM’s XXL awhile, Mavoko denied the allegations, asserting that no such restrictions have been imposed on him and he has no plans to comply with any such restrictions in the near future.
He also denied that he had been begging Diamond to give him his freedom.

When asked about the possibility of returning to the Diamond-owned record label, WCB a year after parting ways in 2017, the “Ibaki Story” hitmaker stated that he is currently focused on building his own empire under the label “Billionaire Kid” and is not considering a return to WCB at this time.
Following his departure from WCB Wasafi in June 2016, Mavoko, accompanied by his sister Dokii, visited the Music Regulatory Board, commonly known as BASATA, to negotiate the terms of his contract with Wasafi and register as a solo artist.
Despite being allowed to pursue a solo career, Mavoko is still restricted from performing in large arenas or conducting major interviews.
