Why Kenyans Love Working With Popular Construction Fundi "Gwaye The Builder" When Building Their Dream Houses

In a city where construction workers can often cause headaches with delays and subpar work, one man stands out for his exceptional talent and unwavering loyalty. Meet Victor Gwaye Otieno, popularly known as “Gwaye the Builder,” a name known for quality craftsmanship and reliability in Nairobi’s bustling construction industry.

Unlike many of his counterparts, Gwaye the Builder has earned a reputation for excellence, having constructed top-notch houses across Kenya, from the upscale neighborhoods of Muthaiga to the vibrant cities of Embu and Kisumu, the guy has done amazing houses.

“Mimi huwa naweka my craftmanship mbele kwanza sababu hiyo ndio itanipea kazi next time. Lazima mimi and fundi wangu we respect the client sababu unajua client ndio mdosi. Pia ma fundi wangu nime wafunza kazi so that project tunafanya inatoka vizuri kabisa and according to the time we agreed,” he says.

Despite being based in Westlands, Nairobi, Gwaye’s expertise knows no bounds as he traverses the country, taking on ambitious projects and even rectifying construction errors in previously built structures.

He says one of the reasons why he understands the craft and maintains professionalism is because he went to school to study the field.

“I started this job while still in college. I have studied Building and construction in school. I have a diploma so this is not something I just found myself doing like many other fundi out here. I decided to go to school and construction,” Gwaye the builder.

Gwaye the Builder also has a diploma in plumbing from Kabete National Polytechnic.

With projects worth up to Ksh 50 million under his belt, Gwaye has demonstrated his proficiency in handling complex constructions from start to finish, including meticulous interior and exterior finishing, a reason why he commands a total of 20,000 followers across all his social media platforms.

Kenyans have thanked him, some openly while others preferred to use private channels for his work. He has 12 years of experience in the field and is among the popular fundi who have constructed mega mansions for different public figures and celebs in Kenya.
