Kenyans on social media have somewhat shown their lack of confidence in the country’s Judicial system following the ruling of the late Monica Kimani’s death, which found Jowie Irungu guilty.

Mideyah Digital understands The High Court, on Friday, February 9, found the main suspect in the case Joseph Irungu alias Jowie guilty of the murder of businesswoman Monica Nyawira Kimani.

It should be noted that Jowie and former Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe  were pointed out as the main suspects following the death of Monica Kimani who was brutally killed on the night of September 19, 2018, at her Lamuria Gardens apartment in Nairobi.

Delivering the judgment, Lady Justice Grace Nzioka ruled that the prosecution presented adequate evidence to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Jowie indeed killed Monica Kimani.

However, Jacque Maribe, who was charged alongside Jowie was acquitted of the murder charge.

In her ruling, the judge noted that the count of murder was not the proper charge that the prosecution would have preferred against the journalist.

The judge added that the evidence forwarded by the prosecution against Maribe did not place her in the house of the deceased on the fateful night, therefore exonerating her from the charge.

The ruling excited many people who really wanted justice for Monica to be served.

However, a cross-section of Kenyans, especially those on Twitter pointed out foul play, holding that Maribe got off the hook thanks to her tight connection to Kenya’s government on the day.

Many noted that Jowie may be guilty but should have been jailed alongside Maribe who was his fiance at the time of the crime.

Jowie touched the hearts of even more Kenyans when he released a new song dubbed Nakuabudu, minutes after the ruling.

Kenyans took to different social media platforms to encourage Jowie with many promising to support his music career even with him behind bars.
