Police Officer Runs Away With Money Exhibits Of Over Ksh. 1.2 Million
Uganda Police authorities are actively searching for one of their officers who reportedly ran away with some of the exhibits from the station store.
It is said that the accused identified as sergeant Fredrick Eriongu attached to the Central Police Station (CPS) was in charge of the store and possessed keys to the store where exhibits from crime scenes are kept.

On 26th December, 2023 in the course of auditing or inspecting the store, Sgt. Eriongu abandoned the exhibit record register, locked the stores and disappeared with the said keys.
He is said to have switched off his phones and went into hiding.
It was later established that the Eriongu forged signatures of investigating officers in five different cases and stole the money exhibits in the stores.
The entries of money stolen was calculated to be over Ksh. 1.205 million.

The stolen money exhibits are for some ongoing court cases and others under investigation.
The superiors at CPS applied and obtained a court order from Buganda Road Court to get forced entry into the store to establish the status of the other exhibits.
The order was issued and signed by Chief Magistrate Kayiizi Ronald after he was satisfied that there’s a reported case of theft registered against Eriongu.
